THE CHALLENGETo design a substantial modern residence on a linear plot that maximizes panoramic river views while maintaining a light footprint and seamless integration with the dense, pristine natural surroundings.
THE SOLUTIONWe adopted a linear "floating volume" approach, utilizing a dramatic cantilever to reduce ground-level impact and create sheltered outdoor zones. A contrasting material palette of raw board-formed concrete and warm vertical timber cladding allows the house to age gracefully. Extensive floor-to-ceiling glazing dissolves the boundary between interior living spaces and the environment.
