A sanctuary from the city: Modern living integrated with an eternal garden in the heart of Cairo.
THE CHALLENGEIn the dense urban environment of Cairo, access to private, accessible green spaces for families can be extremely limited. The client sought a home that provided an immersive natural experience within the interior walls, ensuring the family did not have to leave their private zone to find greenery and tranquility. The primary constraint was integrating a vibrant interior garden while ensuring all living zones remained functional, cohesive, and well- lit.
THE SOLUTIONWe repurposed spaces traditionally reserved for external balconies, converting them instead into massive, glass- enclosed interior garden atriums that serve as the home's biophilic core. These central 'light wells' illuminate the surrounding reception, kitchen, and private zones. We utilized a warm but clean material palette—combining fluted wood textures, neutral fabrics, and honed stone countertops—complemented by a detailed lighting hierarchy that accentuates the depth and atmosphere of the green spaces.
THE RESULTA cohesive, well-lit residential masterpiece that seamlessly blends modern functional requirements with a vibrant, ever-present natural ambiance. The project provides a profound sense of serenity and scale, turning daily family life into an emotionally resonant experience within a unique, green interior environment.
